Welcome to the World, Ella Mahina Bell Wright!

It's nothing short of a Miracle! Our beautiful Ella was born Monday, June 28th at 1:50 am at Maui Memorial Hospital! She weighed in at 7 lbs, 15 oz and was 20,5 inches tall. In Eurpoean terms, she weighed 3610 g and measured 52 cm head to toe! She is a blondie with blue eyes! Absolutely gorgeous!
Mommy woke up at 5:00 am Sunday morning and got ready for work. I felt a slight discomfort during the day and it got progressively worse. But I took some breaks, sat down, drank water, went to the bathroom and so on. But it didn't go away. It didn't feel like anything I had felt before so I didn't know what to make of it. I finished my shift and drove home. When I came home the pain was coming at regular five minute intervals so I figured something was the matter. They told us at Lamaze class not go to the hospital right away but to wait it out at home. So I sent Kel to work and tried to nap for a while. It didn't work.. So after two more hours I called Kel to ask him to come home. The bag was packed so we gassed up the car and drove over to the hospital. A painful ride over and we were admitted swiftly. I got to see a nurse who confirmed that we were indeed having a baby tonight and that I was already at 6 centimeters. I went through a series of more painful contractions so they gave me some morphine to take the edge off. It didn't help much.. So as the contractions kept getting worse, I finally opted for a spinal. Now THAT worked! With no feeling waist down I could finally rest a little and we both fell asleep. We were closing in on midnight so Bingo would most likely not be a Sunday baby. I woke up as the spinal was wearing off. We got the nurse and the doctor for more but they said no, it is time to push the baby out! And push I did!! The spinal was really wearing off so I could feel the contractions and knew when to push. Apparently I did something right beacause before we knew it the head was coming! After that I think I pushed just one last megapush and out she came!! A girl!!! We thought it would be a boy for all this time! She surprised us all! But it sure is exhausting! I think I was awake for about 25 hours before I got to sleep a little. Stupid hospital policy says that dads can't spend the night, so we thought Kel would have to go after we got to our room. But luckily no one said anything. The next day was all trying to rest up and learn how to breastfeed. A painful business so far... But Ella caught on right away! Now I just got to catch up.. Next night Kel had to go, so me and baby were alone. The night nurse watched her for a couple of hours so I could sleep and then brought her back to me when she wanted to eat. I fed her end then we slept til morning! A bunch of different people came for this and that and it was lots of information. Eventually we got discharged and could finally go home with our baby! She was eagerly awaited and we are overjoyed that she is here to bless us with her existence! WE can't wait for all of you to make her aquaintance!

9th of June - 9th of July = 1 MONTH left!

Wow! Just over four weeks to go! Before we know it, baby Wright will be here! The belly is B-I-G! And the pic also shows my clothing of choice around the house, as little as possible because it is HOT! Summer is here and my oven is turned to broil!
Snoopy is stoked to be warming up all of Bingo's gear, and the latest one is a babysitter from Baby Björn. Unlike its plastic counterparts from Fischer Price and the like, this one is baby powered! Not battery powered. I simply could not resist it!
Another fire raged the mountains yesterday, closing the road again. What if that happens when Bingo is coming? Will I have to give birth in the car? Hope not!

Bingo's Baby Shower/Kel's Art Show!

Memorial Day at our house. It was an all-day affair and people came and went throughout the day. Bingo got lots and lots of great gifts! A back pack where he or she can sit while mom or dad is hiking, a baby book, a snuggly blanket, clothes, books, diapers, wipes and other things. We bbq'ed chicken kebabs and Chris no 1 and Kathy brought a home baked bread and pink and blue cupcakes! Chris got to try out Bingo's stroller and immediately figured out what the cupholder was for.. A Stella of course! We tried pinning the pacifier in the baby's mouth and it is a good thing I don't believe in pacifiers, cause I totally lost that game. We tried making balloon animals, but it turned out the nobody had the lung power to blow them up... The party lasted until well after dark, with only the Dudley's and Laura and us left. It was a fun but exhausting day! Bingo's first pool party! Yay!
