Bingo's hat is done!

It's a strawberry! Snoopy is warming it up for Bingo, but it came out so big that mommy will probably have to knit another one. A blueberry next time!

A Rainy Weekend in Hana, almost 28 weeks

The weather report said sunny skies! Alas! never trust the Hawaiian weather!
We really felt like getting out of town, so we didn't let the overcast sky dampen (literally) our spirits. Besides, everyone kept saying that it was sunny on the other side of the island. Right-o!
It did stop raining for a while as we were driving, but not quite what we would call a sunny day. But Bingo is a happy camper!
The rain also stopped long enough for us (read me) to pitch the tent and have a little BBQ at the Kipahulu campground. Kel also got a swim in the cave at Waianapapa. I watched and snapped pictures this time. It then rained throughout the night, making for less than ideal conditions to hike up to the Waimoku falls in the morning. So we didn't. Mom's balance is no longer what it once were... We had a snug little brekkie in the tent, listening to the rain. When it finally stopped and the sun came out for a little, we seized the chance to break our camp and pack the car back up. Wise idea, it turned out! Then came more rain...and more and more. The beach day we had planned at Hamoa got cancelled quickly in favor of "a driving tour", sightseeing from the car...
But as we started heading back towards our side of the island, the rain eventually stopped and we got some sun as we hiked to our favorite waterfall. Bingo's first swim in a waterfall!
It was simply marvellous! We felt so content afterwards that we even decided to share our secret (not so secret after all) waterfall with a couple on the beach who seemed totally clueless. But they were too busy to go... Silly tourists! Clueless indeed!
The backside of Haleakala was as gorgeous as always, partly covered in rain clouds, and not too many people had dared the drive.
We made a little stop in the old Kaupo store, like a visit into the past, and we had to buy something. To keep them in business, if nothing else.
The rest of the road was like a videogame! But I started to feel the lack of sleep and we decided to go home after a late lunch in Makawao. And so another weekend came to an end. It was rainy but nice.
